Change is coming

share

Since GameTopius’s start in August of last year, we’ve gone through a number of changes regarding the format and style of the website trying to continually improve the technology governing how we present content to you, our viewers.

GameTopius has strived to provide thought provoking stories and reviews to its users since its inception and, for the most part, it has succeeded. However, like all things, we can be better.

Our goal moving forward is to provide more regular, unique, exclusive content with a new games journalism edge. To move forward and provide an edge by allowing more connectivity between games, the industry, this site and its viewers. All we ask is your understanding that this will not happen overnight and to bare with us while we grow and find our voice.

We don’t want to copycat other sites. We’re not interested in being a blog about the up to the minute updates of information going on in the gaming world. There are other sites that do this such as Bluesnews.com, Kotaku.com, Joystiq.com that are very well written and organized.

However, we aim to be more.

We want to take the news and look at the industry to critique it, provide thought provoking reviews and previews, and generate a reaction from the gaming community as a whole that lets us provide the best tailored content to our viewers.

Some of the changes that are coming or already here:

-Removing our Anime and Movie sections to concentrate on covering Video Games. Most of us on staff love video games and movies, but we just don’t have the resources to cover them correctly at the moment. Rest assured, that they will return eventually. For now though, our community aspects allow for our staff and readers to share thoughts on these topics quite well and I encourage you to explore the
-A new format for reviews featuring scoreless reviews that better convey if a game’s strengths and weaknesses rather than assigning an arbitrary score.

-More unique content and exclusives from game studios and publishers about hot titles for every different platform.

-A stronger more professional editorial voice that balances the fun that games are supposed to be with the respect they deserve as art.

-More community features and an emphasis on social networking to build a community that can interact with the writing and editorial teams to allow for more transparency in our news and features coverage.

-And the ever present ‘much much more’ to come down the line.

More important than just about anything else is hearing about what our viewers do and don’t like. This site is just as much for us to get you the information about the games and games industry that you want as it is for you to tell us what you would like to know and see presented here.

In closing, I encourage you to explore the site, figure out what you like and don’t like, come back here and let us know what we’re doing right and wrong. We want this to be a fun and engaging place to be where we can all share ideas and different viewpoints, so please, if you’re going to disagree, do so in a constructive manner. If you have ideas you would like to share with me personally, please e-mail me at

Thank you and I hope you’ll all enjoy what we’ve got coming.
